内容刚要:
Modern supply chains rely on the efficient and effective movement of goods, frequently across great distances. A significant portion of these goods are transported in large trucks over the road, and these trucks frequently share infrastructure with the travelling public. Truck drivers face many competing pressures in this unique high risk, high regulation, and low direct supervision context. Therefore, in the motor carrier industry, safety is an important aspect of socially sustainable logistics. Researchers have studied many facets of motor carrier safety, to include driver characteristics, attitudes, and behaviors; organizational characteristics and safety management; and the influence of regulations on safety, to name a few. Past research has provided a better understanding of how driver and vehicle interact with the environment, resulting in judgments and decisions, behaviors, and safety outcomes. This understanding has led to improvements in motor carrier safety, but safety issues still exist. Moreover, emerging technologies and changing regulations are poised to disrupt the motor carrier industry. Therefore, it seems now is the time to assess the current state of motor carrier safety research and identify potential new areas for study. This presentation summarizes a review of motor carrier safety research in top logistics journals and recommends potential areas for future research in this important area.
