Dr. Aihua Li is a professor of Mathematics at Montclair State University in New Jersey, USA. She is currently the president of the Mathematical Association of America New Jersey Section (MAA-NJ). She received a Distinguished Scholar Award by Montclair State University, a Faculty Mentoring Award by the Division of Mathematics and Computer Science of Council on Undergraduate Research.

Current usage of the term big data tends to refer to the use of predictive analytics, user behavior analytics, or certain other advanced data analytics methods that extract value from data, and seldom to a particular size of data set. In recent years, highly trained data professionals and managers are in huge demand. In this seminar, the speaker will introduce basics of data science and newly developed programs in American universities.
